HIMACS in Dark Night S111 was selected for the bar and reception areas
while the 191 bedrooms’ ensuites feature vanity tops in Alpine White S028
Inspired by the New York borough of the same name, Hotel Brooklyn first found award-winning success in 2020 in its Manchester location. Two years on and leading interior design firm Squid.inc has once again created a lavish, luxurious and laid-back interior for the hotel’s new Leicester location complete with HIMACS Dark Night for the bar and reception counters and the iconic colour Alpine White for the vanity tops in the 191 bedrooms’ ensuites.
“Squid.inc were once again delighted to be chosen to design the interior spaces for this super-friendly brand and its new Leicester location, adjacent to the Welford Road Stadium, which is home to the famous Leicester Tigers rugby team,” says designer Oliver Redfern. “The aesthetic layers decor from mixed periods and sources; a palpable anti-slick, anti-corporate sensibility – a place where creativity and collaboration have free rein to build a story that brings the best of Brooklyn to Leicester.” The result is a comfortable, cosy destination full of film set charm.
The combined bar, restaurant and socialising area is called the Lair – a destination of true hospitality where everyone is welcome. At the centre of this open-plan environment, the bar’s front facade is crafted from HIMACS Dark Night and features routed diagonal lines representing the patterns formed by the steel suspension cables of the Brooklyn Bridge. Part of the Solids Collection from HIMACS, the same surface material was also chosen for the hotel’s reception area countertops. Moving upstairs, the hotel’s 191 stylish bedrooms each have an ensuite that features HIMACS Alpine White for the vanity unit tops. All the HIMACS elements were supplied by Whitehall Fabrications while the bar area and reception desks were made by Deanhouse Interiors.
Due to its flexibility and special characteristics, HIMACS is the ideal application for hotels and restaurants. Creating instant impact in funky bars, exquisite dining rooms and the hippest clubs, it creates an ambient statement with a unique aesthetic. HIMACS is also ultra-practical and safe, as it is robust and fire resistant, incredibly hygienic and resistant to wear and tear, stains and UV rays. Moreover, its non-porous surface makes the material completely waterproof and extremely quick and easy to clean. The thermoformable properties of HIMACS also allow it to be moulded into any shape and size, making it the perfect material for creating bars and reception areas as well as vanity tops for bathrooms and ensuites. The absence of visible seams also ensures a smooth, seamless look that prevents dirt, bacteria and viruses building up on the surface. This makes HIMACS a Solid Surface material with unbeatable hygienic properties, guaranteed by certifications that comply with LGA and NSF international standards.
