Clifford Street- Affordable Residential Development

A prominent development at Clifford Street has been developed into 36 affordable properties by AS Homes in partnership with Home Group. The plot was formally a derelict gymnasium & swimming pool which was part of Bellahouston Academy; the site has now been transformed to provide modern affordable properties with private garden spaces and high thermal performance.

Nestled amongst a cluster of B-listed buildings, the scale and form of the building was influenced by the surrounding architecture, designed to tie into the proportions of the neighbouring tenements and Bellahouston Academy. High quality detailing such as the raised brick gables and the vertical windows connect the contemporary housing to the traditional buildings along Clifford Street and North Gower Street.

This low parking development aims to encourage sustainable transport choices and reallocates parking spaces to green amenity space, benefitting residents and the wider locality. Cycle storage is available to each flat, with amenity space provided in a sheltered rear court. The development is designed to meet Glasgow’s gold hybrid standard for sustainability with PV panels incorporated into the roof, combined with high performance insulation throughout.
