CB Arts was called upon by the Lake District National Park Authority to produce a viewing platform on the fractured rock at Stanley Ghyll, offering breath-taking views of the iconic waterfall in Cumbria.
The state-of-the-art cantilevered platform was then hot dip galvanized by the team at Manchester Galvanizing Ltd, the galvanizer of choice for CB Arts, to ensure its longevity in years to come. Perfect for thrill-seekers, the platform extends five metres out into the gorge over a 150ft drop and a 60ft high waterfall.
In order that the structure would have no negative bearing on the natural skyline, the site is based at the top west side of the Ghyll which offers a natural dip in the landscape. All involved in the project have worked hard to establish the safety of the site, hoping to instigate changes that will secure its future as one of Cumbria’s most iconic views.
The platform has been fabricated from mild steel, with guard rails angled in such a way as to mimic the rock itself.
Chris Brammall explained: “It’s such an awe-inspiring landscape — we had a vision to create something considerate of the location, as well as give sightseers an enriched experience. Being able to see the final platform in place and appreciate the new perspective this has created was a wonderful experience and one we are incredibly proud to be a part of”.
